Description

Di Pacci — Dual-Boiler Saturated-Group Commercial Espresso Machine with Drip-Tray Scales

La Marzocco Linea PB (ABR) Coffee Machine

The La Marzocco Linea PB (ABR) is the Linea PB with scales built into the drip tray, so every shot can stop at a set weight or brew ratio instead of a guessed volume.

The La Marzocco Linea PB (ABR) is a dual-boiler commercial espresso machine with saturated groups: a dedicated coffee boiler feeds the groups while a separate steam boiler handles milk and hot water, each under its own PID. ABR adds scales integrated in the drip tray, so you can program shots by volume, by mass or by brew ratio. It comes in 2, 3 and 4 group configurations.

Compared with a standard Linea PB, the ABR version measures what actually lands in the cup, which keeps recipes consistent from barista to barista and from the morning rush to close. The digital display shows boiler temperatures, shot timers and a flow pulse counter, and the insulated boilers, eco mode and hot water economiser keep running costs in check on a machine built to work all day.

Key Features of the Linea PB ABR

⚖️ Auto Brew Ratio scales

Scales in the drip tray let you program each button by volume, mass or brew ratio, so the shot stops at the weight you set.

🔥 Separate coffee and steam boilers

Brewing and steaming draw on different boilers, so heavy milk work doesn't pull brew temperature off target.

☕ Saturated groups

Water stays inside the coffee boiler circuit during brewing, which is what gives the Linea its renowned temperature stability.

🌡️ Dual PID with digital display

Set coffee and steam temperatures electronically and read boiler temperatures, shot timers and flow pulses at a glance.

💧 Piero group caps with flowmeters

Built-in flowmeters and ruby flow restrictors keep dosing accurate and resist scale build-up.

🌙 Eco mode and insulated boilers

Insulated boilers, a pre-heating system and a hot water economiser cut wasted energy between rushes.

Why Brewing by Weight Changes Service

A volumetric button counts water going into the group. It can't see how much espresso comes out, and that changes as the grind drifts, the beans age and the puck gets fuller or lighter. ABR measures the drink itself.

  • Set a target yield or ratio for each button, for example 18 g in and 36 g out.
  • Load the portafilter and press the button; the drip-tray scales read the cup as the shot runs.
  • The machine ends the shot at the programmed weight, and the timer shows how long it took, so you know when to adjust the grinder.

The result is the same drink from every barista on every group, and a clear signal when the grind needs a tweak, which matters most when the queue is out the door.

Linea PB ABR: 2 vs 3 vs 4 Group

All three sizes share the same boilers-and-PID architecture and ABR scales. Pick by how many baristas work the machine at once.

Feature 2 Group 3 Group 4 Group
Coffee boiler 3.4 L 5 L 6.8 L
Steam boiler 7 L 11 L 15 L
Power 4600 W 6100 W 8000 W
Width 75 cm 95 cm 119 cm
Weight 61 kg 77 kg 117 kg

Di Pacci recommendation: The 2 group suits most single-site cafes with one or two baristas on the bar; go to 3 or 4 groups only when you regularly run more than two people on the machine. Don't bother with the ABR version if you serve mostly batch brew or have a small, steady trade; a simpler volumetric machine will do the job for far less.

Best Grinders for the Linea PB ABR

Brew-by-weight only pays off when the dose going in is just as consistent, so pair the Linea with an on-demand commercial grinder.

Grinder Burrs Why it pairs well
Mahlkönig E65S 65 mm flat A compact on-demand grinder that suits a 2 group bar with one main espresso blend
Fiorenzato F83 E Pro 83 mm flat Large burrs grind quickly and stay cool through a busy morning
Mahlkönig E80 Supreme 80 mm flat Built for high volume, a match for 3 and 4 group machines

Who This Machine Is For

✓ Ideal if you:
  • Run a specialty cafe and want every shot to hit the same yield
  • Have several baristas sharing one machine
  • Pour lots of milk drinks and need strong, separate steam
  • Want a machine with decades of service support behind it
  • Value low running costs from insulated boilers and eco mode
✗ Consider alternatives if you:
  • Have only a standard 10 or 15 amp outlet; even the 2 group draws 4600 W and needs a dedicated circuit
  • Serve fewer than about 100 coffees a day; look at our commercial coffee machines range for smaller options
  • Have less than 75 cm of bench for a 2 group
  • Are setting up at home; see our home coffee machines

La Marzocco Linea PB ABR — Frequently Asked Questions

What does ABR mean on the La Marzocco Linea PB?

ABR stands for Auto Brew Ratio. Scales built into the drip tray weigh the espresso as it pours, so each button can be set by volume, by mass or by brew ratio and the shot stops at the weight you set.

What power supply does the Linea PB ABR need?

The 2 group draws 4600 W, the 3 group 6100 W and the 4 group 8000 W at 220–240 V, so every size needs a dedicated circuit installed by a licensed electrician. It cannot run from a standard 10 or 15 amp power point.

How big are the boilers on the Linea PB?

The coffee boiler is 3.4 L, 5 L or 6.8 L and the steam boiler is 7 L, 11 L or 15 L for the 2, 3 and 4 group models respectively.

Is the Linea PB a multi-boiler machine?

It is a dual-boiler machine: one coffee boiler feeding saturated groups, plus a separate steam boiler. It does not have an individual boiler for each group.

How wide is the 2 group Linea PB?

The 2 group is 75 cm wide, 59 cm deep and 53.3 cm high. The 3 group is 95 cm wide and the 4 group 119 cm wide, both with the same depth and height.

Do you install the Linea PB?

Yes. Installation is free in Sydney metro areas, and our in-house technicians service La Marzocco machines. Call (02) 9758 0760 to plan plumbing, power and water filtration before delivery.

Which grinder should I pair with the Linea PB ABR?

Use an on-demand commercial grinder with flat burrs of 65 mm or larger, such as the Mahlkönig E65S for a 2 group or the Mahlkönig E80 Supreme for 3 and 4 group bars.

What warranty comes with the Linea PB ABR?

It comes with a 12 month parts and labour warranty through Di Pacci, backed by our in-house service team and parts in stock.
