Description

Di Pacci — Dual-Boiler Commercial Espresso Machine — USA

La Marzocco Linea Classic S — 1, 2 & 3 Group

The La Marzocco Linea Classic S is the Linea that has run specialty cafes for three decades, rebuilt with modern electronics, dual PID control and La Marzocco app connectivity.

Every Linea Classic S has separate brew and steam boilers, saturated groups for stable temperature shot after shot, and dual PID control so both boiler temperatures are set to a number from the keypad. It comes in 1, 2 or 3 groups, each in a semi-automatic (EE) or auto-volumetric (AV) version.

Compared with older Lineas, the S replaces electromechanical controls with solid-state electronics, adds a half-turn steam valve that opens fully with less wrist movement, and connects to the La Marzocco app. It's the most affordable commercial Linea, and still the machine most baristas already know how to use.

🔥 Dual Boilers 🌡️ Dual PID ☕ Saturated Groups 📱 La Marzocco App ⏱️ Shot Timer (AV) ✅ UL & NSF Certified 💳 Finance Available ✅ Tariffs & Duties Included

Best for: ☕ Specialty cafes · 🏪 New coffee shops · 🔥 Roastery tasting bars · 🍽️ Restaurants · 🚚 Multi-site chains

Key Features of the Linea Classic S

  • 🔥 Dual boilers — brew and steam from separate boilers, so steaming milk never pulls temperature away from the shot.
  • ☕ Saturated groups — boiler water circulates through the group itself, keeping the last shot of a rush as stable as the first.
  • 🌡️ Dual PID — set brew and steam temperatures to an exact number instead of adjusting a pressurestat.
  • ⏱️ Integrated shot timer (AV) — extraction time shows on each group, so dialing in during service takes a glance.
  • 🌀 Half-turn steam valve — opens fully in half a turn, less repetitive strain for baristas steaming all day.
  • 📱 La Marzocco app ready — the electronic board connects natively to the La Marzocco app for settings and monitoring.

EE or AV: Which Version?

Both versions share the same boilers, groups and dual PID. The difference is how a shot starts and stops.

  • Semi-automatic (EE) — the barista presses to start the pump and presses again to stop. Full manual control of every shot, at a lower price.
  • Auto-volumetric (AV) — doses are programmed by volume, so the machine stops each shot on its own. Adds the per-group shot timer.
  • Choose EE if you have experienced baristas who weigh shots and want to stop by eye or by scale.
  • Choose AV if you have rotating or newer staff, high volume, or want every shot to match without supervision.

For most busy cafes, AV pays for itself in consistency: a barista can start a shot, turn to the milk, and trust the machine to stop on time.

Compare Sizes & Versions

Size EE price AV price Suits
1 Group $10,750 $12,370 Small bars, kiosks, restaurants, one barista
2 Group $12,730 $16,670 Most cafes, one or two baristas
3 Group $16,310 $20,780 High-volume cafes, two or more baristas at once

Di Pacci recommendation: the 2 Group AV is the right machine for most cafes. Go to 3 groups only if two baristas will regularly pull shots side by side. Don't bother with the Classic S if you want pressure profiling or built-in scales; look at the La Marzocco Linea PB, which offers an AV with Scales version.

Who the Linea Classic S Is For

  • ✓ New cafes wanting a proven, widely serviced machine.
  • ✓ Busy specialty shops that need steady temperature through a rush.
  • ✓ Teams with new or rotating baristas (AV version).
  • ✓ Experienced baristas who prefer stopping shots by hand (EE version).
  • ✓ Multi-site operators standardizing on one familiar machine.
  • ✓ Roasteries running tasting or wholesale training bars.
  • ✗ Home kitchens — it needs a 20–50 A, 208–240V circuit plus plumbing and a drain. Look at a GS3 or Linea Mini instead.
  • ✗ Sites without plumbing — this is a plumbed-in commercial machine with no water tank.
  • ✗ Pressure-profiling setups — the Classic S has no paddle or flow control.
  • ✗ Tight counters — even the 1 group is 19.4 in wide and 23 in deep, and weighs 90 lb.

Linea Classic S FAQ

What is the difference between the Linea Classic S EE and AV?
The EE is semi-automatic: the barista starts and stops each shot. The AV is auto-volumetric: shot volumes are programmed and the machine stops each shot on its own, and it adds an integrated shot timer on each group. Boilers, groups and temperature control are the same.
What power does the Linea Classic S need?
It runs on 208–240V single-phase, 60 Hz. You need a dedicated 20 A circuit for the 1 group, 30 A for the 2 group, or 50 A for the 3 group. Have an electrician confirm your circuit before delivery.
Does the Linea Classic S need to be plumbed in?
Yes. It's a commercial machine with no water reservoir, so it needs a water supply line and a drain. Water treatment matched to your local water is strongly recommended to protect the boilers.
How many groups do I need?
Size by how many baristas pull shots at the same time. One group suits a single barista or a low-volume bar, two groups suit most cafes, and three groups make sense when two baristas regularly work the machine side by side.
Is the Linea Classic S app compatible?
Yes. Its electronic board connects natively to the La Marzocco app, and both boiler temperatures can also be set from the group keypad.
How is the Linea Classic S different from the Linea PB?
Both are dual-boiler, saturated-group Lineas. The Linea PB is the step-up model and is offered with built-in scales; the Classic S is the simpler, lower-cost workhorse. Call us on +1 (646) 774-0590 if you're deciding between them.
How big and heavy is the Linea Classic S?
All sizes are 23 in deep and 17.5 in tall. Widths are 19.4 in, 27.3 in and 36.7 in for 1, 2 and 3 groups, and weights are 90 lb, 130 lb and 164 lb.
